Riverland at Dubai Parks and Resorts is also being transformed into a major family entertainment hub with new attractions, as operator DHE capitalizes on tourism growth.
DUBAI: A new landmark waterpark, featuring the largest pool in the region, is set to open its doors in Dubai, further solidifying the emirate’s position as a global entertainment destination.
The opening date for the highly anticipated Oasis Bay Waterpark, located within Dubai Parks and Resorts, will be announced shortly, according to a senior official.
“It will be a one-of-a-kind waterpark,” said Rami Mashini, Vice President of Sales at Dubai Holdings Entertainment (DHE), the operator behind major attractions like Global Village and Ain Dubai. He made the announcement on the sidelines of the World Travel Market in London, adding, “Hopefully, soon we will announce the opening date.”
Riverland’s Major Transformation
Beyond the new waterpark, DHE is focusing on a significant overhaul of the Riverland district at Dubai Parks and Resorts. The area is being reinvented as “one of the most advanced family entertainment centres in the region,” Mashini revealed.
The upgrades include a diverse range of new activities and attractions, such as:
- Archery and axe-throwing
- Go-karting
- An immersive experience called ‘Perplexity City’
- An escape room named ‘The Hidden Chambers’
- Several new restaurants and nightly laser shows
- Bazaars to host local small businesses
“The aim for next year is that it should become a family entertainment center,” Mashini stated.
Global Village to Remain Seasonal
Addressing the possibility of extending Global Village’s operational calendar, Mashini confirmed that the popular destination will remain a seasonal attraction. It currently runs for seven months each year.
“To keep it at its best, we need at least two to three months during the year to enhance, build, and develop it to improve the customer journey. So, the plan is to keep it as it is,” he explained. The goal for its current 30th season is to surpass the 10.5 million visitors achieved last year.
Meeting Demand for Luxury and Glamping
Mashini also noted a growing trend for ultra-luxurious experiences and glamping. To cater to this demand, DHE has launched several premium offerings, including a T-Rex glamping project at Dubai Parks and Resorts and an exclusive, butler-guided tour inside the Burj Al Arab. A new space camp experience and desert safari are also in the pipeline to broaden the company’s portfolio.
