Abu Dhabi-based franchise secures 3-2 win behind strong group pitching effort, sets stage for United Series showdown with Mumbai Cobras.
The Mid East Falcons closed the inaugural Baseball United season with a 3-2 victory over cross-emirate rivals the Arabia Wolves on Sunday, finishing tied for first place in the standings.
Held at Baseball United Ballpark in Dubai, the match saw five Falcons pitchers combine to allow just five hits and two runs. Left-handed starter Shotaro Kasahara set the tone with three scoreless innings, while Yunis Halim earned the win with two more shutout frames. Closer Haru Shoshioka, a prospect from Japan’s Yokohama Baystars, sealed the game with a scoreless ninth inning for the save.
Offensively, the Falcons were led by Alejandro de Aza, who went 2-for-3 and scored a run, and Federico Celli, whose fourth-inning single drove in a run. Celli finished the final two games of the season with nine total RBIs.
With the win, the Mid East Falcons ended the campaign with a 6-3 record, tying them with the Mumbai Cobras atop the table. The two teams will now face off in the upcoming United Series, set to begin on December 12.
