The San Antonio Spurs solidified their unexpected dominance over the NBA’s top team, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder 117-102 on Thursday in a headline Christmas Day matchup.
Despite coming off the bench, Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama posted 19 points and 11 rebounds, while De’Aaron Fox led all scorers with 29 points. The victory extended San Antonio’s winning streak to eight games and marked their third win over the Thunder in recent weeks.
“When you play a team of this caliber, the details are much more magnified,” said Spurs coach Mitch Johnson. “We did a phenomenal job.”
Oklahoma City, which started the season 24-1, has now lost four of its last six. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 22 points in a losing effort.

- Houston Rockets 119, Los Angeles Lakers 96: Amen Thompson scored 26 points to power the Rockets past the Lakers. LeBron James, playing in his record 20th Christmas game, finished with 18 points as his holiday record fell to 11-9.
- New York Knicks 126, Cleveland Cavaliers 124: Jalen Brunson’s 34 points, including a clutch late three-pointer, propelled the Knicks to a dramatic comeback victory after erasing a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit.
- Golden State Warriors 126, Dallas Mavericks 116: Stephen Curry led a balanced attack with 23 points as the Warriors held off Dallas. Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg scored a game-high 27 points in the loss.
