The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department has set the prayer time for 6:40 am, as Dubai Police prepare to manage traffic for a smooth and safe celebration.
DUBAI – With the UAE set to sight the Shawwal crescent moon on Tuesday, March 18, Dubai’s authorities have officially announced the timings and preparations for Eid Al Fitr prayers.
The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) confirmed that Eid prayers will be held at 6:40 am across all mosques in the emirate. Nearly 900 mosques and musallahs will open their doors to accommodate the large numbers of worshippers gathering to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Safety and Logistics
In a concerted effort to ensure a seamless experience, authorities have completed all necessary preparations at mosque facilities. Dubai Police will be deployed to manage traffic flow around prayer grounds, aiming to ease movement and prevent congestion for those heading to and from the prayers.
Residents are being advised to plan their routes, arrive early to secure parking, and follow instructions from officials on the ground to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees.
When is Eid?
The exact start of Eid Al Fitr depends on the sighting of the crescent moon. The UAE’s moon-sighting committee will convene on Tuesday evening (March 18) to determine the first day of Shawwal. If the moon is sighted, Wednesday, March 19, will be the first day of Eid; if not, Ramadan will complete 30 days, pushing Eid to Thursday, March 20.
Authorities urge residents to stay tuned to official announcements for confirmation of the holiday date.
