On Saturday night, during Israel’s bombardment of Gaza Strip, Amer Ashour’s wife went into labor. They hurried to a nearby maternity hospital where they welcomed their second child, a baby boy. However, upon returning home, they were shocked to find nothing but rubble and stones where their house once stood.
The couple’s 11-story residence in the Al-Nasr neighborhood of Gaza City was bombed by Israeli forces in response to an unprecedented attack by Hamas on Israel.
The husband, Ashour, expressed his concern for his wife giving birth during the ongoing conflict and was shocked when their home was destroyed. Israel declared a “state of war” and authorized “significant military measures” following Hamas’s surprise attack, resulting in over 1,000 deaths and thousands of injuries on both sides.
Approximately 80 families inhabited the building in Gaza City Ashour lived in.
