ABA League leaders bounce back with commanding road win, aim to capitalize on strong form in key home clash against German giants.
Dubai Basketball heads into a crucial EuroLeague home game against FC Bayern Munich this week buoyed by a return to winning ways and sustained excellence in regional competition.
The squad showcased its resilience and depth over a demanding week, bookending a narrow European defeat with a statement victory in the ABA League. On Sunday, Dubai extended its perfect start in the ABA League’s Group A to 8-0 with a dominant 88-74 road win over Igokea. The team established an early double-digit lead and never looked back, powered by a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds from Mfiondu Kabengele.
This commanding performance came just days after a heartbreaking 79-78 EuroLeague road loss to Virtus Bologna on Friday, where a late trio of three-pointers decided the game despite a spirited Dubai comeback. The team now holds a 6-8 record in Europe’s premier club competition.
“The team showed a professional approach from the start and controlled the game for 40 minutes,” said Head Coach Jurica Golemac after the ABA League win, highlighting the team’s 27 assists. “We take the positives and move forward.”
All focus now shifts to a significant EuroLeague Round 15 fixture at home. Dubai will host German powerhouse Bayern Munich at the Coca-Cola Arena on December 12, aiming to leverage their current form and home-court advantage to climb the standings.
