Egyptian Lynx crosses border, attacks Israeli soldiers near Mount Harif

An Egyptian wildcat, referred to as the Lynx, infiltrated an Israeli army base at a border station in the vicinity of Mount Harif, attacking and injuring several Israeli soldiers in an unparalleled incident that has gone viral on social media.

The lynx, a wild feline to Egypt, quickly became the most discussed and mentioned topic on social media platforms after its assault on Israeli troops.

Many social media users reacted with humour, announcing the soldiers were given what they deserved and jokingly labeling the animal as “antisemitic.”

Others ironically puzzled whether or not the Lynx might now be condemned.

According to media reports, several reports have been filed with authorities about bites from a wild predator targeting Israeli’ infantrymen at the Egypt-Israeli Occupation border.

Israeli authorities in the end captured the lynx and transported it to a specialised medical institution for examination.

More details are yet to emerge about the Lynx.

Israeli media speculated that the lynx had crossed over from Egypt, though there is no proof of the speculation.

The desert border is home to numerous predators and non-predatory wildlife, making such encounters possible.

The Lynx measures between 60 to 90 cm in length, weighs 8 to 20 kg, and stands about half a meter tall at the shoulders.  It possesses lengthy fangs, sharp claws, and a lifespan of 12 to fifteen years in the wild.

The predator is capable of reaching speeds of 80 km/h. It preys on rodents, wild rabbits, and birds.

It can also attack larger animals such as deer, monkeys, sheep, and goats.

With excellent climbing and jumping abilities, the lynx is a formidable predator in its natural habitat.

As the viral discussion continues, the incident has not only amused many online but also shed light on this lesser-known wild feline.
