Emirates, known and loved by millions for its luxurious air and land services, has launched a new maritime arm, Emirates Sealine, which promises to provide top-tier and unique cruise experiences to rarely visited ports.
The first cruise is scheduled to flag off from Dubai Harbour on April 1, 2024, with Karachi as the maiden port of call – harking back to the Emirates Airline’s first-ever flight to Pakistan’s city of Karachi in October 1985. Bookings will be open from June 31. Emirates Sealine’s liners will dock at major cruise ports – charting a course from US to New Zealand – supported by the airline’s colossal network.
The company has placed a titanic, multi-billion-dollar order for an initial 10 cruise ships, fitted with the latest technologies, to sail across the seven seas. Emirates Sealine will depart from traditional seasonal calendars, and its liners will dock at major cruise ports worldwide, supported by the airline’s vast network.
Emirates Sealine’s chief maritime officer, Captain Jack Shallow, said, “Dubai’s multi-modal transport infrastructure and the city’s sailing capabilities allow the company to offer speeds of up to 50 knots per hour, almost double the speed of the fastest ships today. Emirates Sealine will provide its customers with never-before-explored itineraries, undreamed-of luxury onboard, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. The company will focus on maritime sustainability by using sustainable maritime fuel, solar panels, recycling, and waste management.”
Emirates’ passengers will be transported from across the airline’s global network to Dubai Harbour in custom-built electric chauffeur-driven cars and then escorted to their luxury cabins onboard in a seamless air-land-sea journey. The cruise fleet will feature four cabin types, offering varied levels of space, amenities, and luxury, and more details about the products and services may be released in the future.
Emirates Sealine will recruit thousands of mariners and specialists with diverse skills and expertise to manage operations and serve guests with the airline’s signature hospitality, supporting economies across its network. Recruitment information will be available on Sealine’s website.

It’s all just an April Fool’s Day joke. Although the company has not yet made a statement about the prank, it’s evident that they had fun with the announcement, and we added to the twist with the satellite launch.
The introduction of Sealine has undoubtedly grabbed the attention of numerous individuals, as evidenced by their reactions on Emirates social media accounts. Despite being an April Fools’ Day prank, Emirates gave the impression that Sealine’s launch was legitimate. The prank’s attention to detail and hard work made it stand out and stay in peoples’ memories.
