reen tea is the most conventional and popular natural beverage across the globe. A cup full of ingredient with overwhelming healthy benefits and scrumptious flavour. Change in a lifestyle with a cup of tea may safe you with lifestyle disease such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes etc.
Many varieties of tea are available worldwide being consumed in different infusions. However, All of them are being produced by a single source i.e. Camellia sinensis. The only difference is processing of tea leaves. Such as green tea produced by unfermented leaves while rests of the varieties are being produced by partially-fermented or fully-fermented leaves. Green tea posses ton of benefits may be due to its collection process that remains to preserve its natural ingredients.
Green tea extract contains several bioactive compounds including caffeine, alkaloids, vit K, polyphenolic components such as catechins, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) are the most effective antioxidant compounds. These polyphenols are also responsible for distinctive aroma, colour and taste.
Besides with its popular benefit of weight loss. Now it grabs the attention of researchers toward low prevalence of heart diseases and cancer in green tea drinkers. Various studies showed firm evidence that regular tea drinkers are less likely to develop cancer. Though more research is needed to confirm these effects. Because catechin is a powerful antioxidant it inhibits the production of free radical in various metabolic process thus free radical are responsible for cell damage. Correlation with its antioxidant property that dramatically decreases LDL (low density lipoprotein) particles oxidation, which preventing towards heart disease. Multiple studies showed that green tea drinkers have up to a 34% lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Polyphenols in green tea can also help regulate glucose in the body, helping to prevent or control diabetes type 1. Several studies have indicated that tea improves insulin sensitivity.
Simultaneously, Studies showed that the catechins in green tea can also inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans a powerful bacteria responsible for the production of plaque. Thus it improves dental hiygene and decreases risk of caries. Green tea also has an effect on brain it contain small but enough amount of caffeine with amino acid L-theanine that can cross blood-brain barrier and increase the activity of neurotransmitters and make you smarter and productive. Moreover various studies show that, green tea is potentially lowering the risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s in test tubes and animal models.
A meta-analysis of middle-aged individuals showed that those who drank the greenest tea were 76% less likely to die during the 6 year study period. Though, green tea drinkers are likely to live longer than non-tea drinkers. Accordingly, a single cup of tea makes you smarter, prolific, creative, plentiful, robust, and live longer. Consequently, green makes you clean from various diseases and lead you to a happy healthy life.
