IndiGo Cancels, Reroutes Flights to Caucasus & Central Asia Amid Iran Tensions

NEW DELHI: IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has announced a series of cancellations and route changes for its international services to and from several cities in the Caucasus and Central Asia, citing “recent developments” and rising tensions around Iran.

In a travel advisory issued on Sunday, the airline stated it is implementing “proactive changes” to its schedules as part of its focus on operational safety. The decision reflects growing concern over regional instability, which is impacting commercial flight corridors.

Flight Adjustments:

• Cancellations (January 25): Flights from Delhi to Tbilisi (Georgia) and from Mumbai to Almaty (Kazakhstan), along with their return journeys, have been cancelled.
• Route Changes (January 26): Flights operating to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku (Azerbaijan), and Tashkent (Uzbekistan) may include a brief technical halt for refuelling in Doha (Qatar). This is expected to result in longer travel times.

“We are closely monitoring the dynamic situation and in view of that some of our flights may be changed or cancelled in a phased manner,” IndiGo stated on social media platform X. The airline has advised affected passengers to check their flight status regularly and explore alternate options via its official website.
