Dubai: Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan officially inaugurated first regional Loka Kerala Sabha in Dubai on Friday.
The Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, P Sreeramakrishnan, opened the two-day summit on Friday at the Etisalat Academy in Muhaisnah.
Chief Minister Vijayan announced a range of new initiatives for the benefit of non-resident Keralites (NRKs), including an NRK dividend cum pension scheme. The conference is discussing several welfare measures for NRKs, and the establishment of important institutions to support the state’s development. Budget allocations for several NRK welfare schemes and new institutions were announced as well.
Sreeramakrishnan announced that recommendations and proposals regarding expatriate issues will be heard from the seven standing committees of the Loka Kerala Sabha over the next two days. “On Saturday, we will announce the decisions made after the two-day meet. We will help the expatriate community financially, and in every other way possible,” he said.
Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri, and other delegates from the UAE business community and LKS members from the UAE were present at the opening of the two-day meet.
