The yearly three days super sale mania gripped the emirates as companies and shopping malls offered massive discounts as much as 90 per cent, resulting in long queues of visitors flocking in droves to the stores on Friday (Friday, November 25) until Sunday (November 27) in Dubai.

Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the sale offers great savings and gives shoppers the chance to win prizes and cashback. The 3-day super sale covers shopping hubs and centres citywide including Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Mercato, Town Center Jumeirah, Ibn Battuta, Circle Mall, The Pointe, Nakheel Mall, Gate Avenue at DIFC, Festival Plaza, Dubai Festival City Mall, The Outlet Village, Al Seef, Bluewaters, The Beach opposite Jumeirah Beach Residence, City Walk, and La Mer.

Sherry, a shop assistant at Dubai Mall said her outlet was expecting a huge rush this weekend. “Usually Friday mornings are very quiet. But it was busy since Friday morning. After 3pm, the crowds got to double,” she said.

She said the staff is expecting to work overtime during the weekend. “This is the best sale we have during the year. We have 50 per cent off everything in the store. So, people keep flocking in. We are expecting to work at least two hours beyond our usual shift during closing,” she said.

Colloquially called the Black Friday sale in the US, this weekend marks the start of the Christmas shopping season and stores often offer huge discounts. In the UAE, this shopping weekend is called the White Friday with several online and traditional stores offering massive bargain deals.
