Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Present at 2026 Oscars, Marking a Decade of Indian Representation at Academy Awards

The ‘Citadel’ star joins Robert Downey Jr., Anne Hathaway, and Demi Moore in presenter lineup for March 15 ceremony

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is returning to the Oscars stage—exactly a decade after her historic debut as the first Indian actress to present at the Academy Awards.

The global icon confirmed her participation in the 98th Academy Awards through an Instagram post on Thursday, joining the third and final slate of presenters announced by the Academy. The ceremony is scheduled for March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood, airing live on ABC at 7 PM ET.

Chopra Jonas will share the presenter spotlight with an ensemble of Hollywood heavyweights including Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Hathaway, Paul Mescal, and Demi Moore. The lineup also features Adrien Brody, Javier Bardem, Chris Evans, Kumail Nanjiani, Maya Rudolph, and Zoe Saldaña.

Her return carries symbolic weight—when she first graced the Oscars stage in 2016, it was widely seen as a breakthrough moment for Indian representation in Western entertainment. Since then, the ceremony has witnessed other Indian talents take the spotlight, notably Deepika Padukone’s presenting stint in 2023 and the historic win of ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR.

From 2016 Trailblazer to 2026 Mainstay: How Indian Talent Became Oscars Regulars

The 2026 Oscars come at a particularly active phase in Chopra Jonas’ career. Her recent Amazon Prime Video action thriller The Bluff has registered strong viewership numbers, while she prepares for Citadel Season 2 and her Telugu debut in SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated Varanasi, opposite Mahesh Babu. The film is scheduled for an April 2027 release.

Earlier this awards season, she presented at the Golden Globes alongside K-pop star Lisa, further cementing her status as a cross-cultural entertainment fixture.

This year’s nominations are led by Sinners, which shattered records with 16 nods, surpassing benchmarks previously held by Titanic and La La Land. Comedian Conan O’Brien returns as host for the second consecutive year.

Beyond the Presenter Slot: What Chopra Jonas’ Return Signifies

Industry observers note that Chopra Jonas’ 2026 Oscars appearance reflects a broader evolution in how Indian talent is integrated into global entertainment frameworks. Unlike her 2016 appearance—often framed as a novelty in Western media—her current inclusion arrives amid sustained recognition of Indian cinematic achievements.

With RRR‘s song victory, The Elephant Whisperers‘ documentary win, and consistent Indian representation across categories in recent years, the narrative has shifted from “Indian at the Oscars” as an exception to an expectation.

Her placement alongside A-list presenters suggests that Indian stardom has moved from peripheral acknowledgment to mainstream integration within Hollywood’s premier institution.

Did you know? Priyanka Chopra Jonas made history in 2016 as the first Indian actress to present at the Oscars. She attended the ceremony again in 2017 during her transition to Hollywood projects.
