Selena Gomez may have been absent from this year’s Met Gala, but that didn’t stop her from making headlines. Two viral photos of the 30-year-old singer supposedly at the event left netizens a little confused.
However, it quickly became apparent that the photos were doctored, and Selena did not actually attend the event.
Despite the photo being fake, it quickly gained traction on social media and became the most-liked photo on Twitter. It got 21.9 million views, 31,170 retweets, and 388,489 likes. In the photoshopped image that went viral, Selena Gomez appeared wearing a blue see-through beaded dress with a slit. The photo was edited to feature Selena’s face on top of Lily James’ 2022 Met Gala outfit by Versace. It had been altered to a different shade of blue.

While fans were initially excited to see Selena’s supposed Met Gala look, many noticed some glaring inconsistencies in the photo. The red carpet she was photoshopped onto was not the same as the one from this year. While some colors were poorly blended, making it clear that it was a Photoshop job.

It’s unclear why Selena did not attend the event this year, an event she has not attended since 2018. However, she has a lot going on at the moment, having just wrapped up filming Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building. She was also recently spotted with Zayn Malik, sparking dating rumors.
Despite the photo being fake, Selena’s fans were still thrilled to see her supposedly attend the Met Gala, even if it was just through a photoshopped image.
