Shan Masood likely to replace Sarfaraz as Test Captain

Pakistan’s fast-rising Test opener Shan Masood is likely to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as the captain in the longest format of the game.

According to the sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have decided to remove Sarfaraz from Test captaincy and have nominated Shan to lead Pakistan in Test Cricket.

On Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Cricket Committee will hold an important meeting at Lahore where the matter of Pakistan’s Test captaincy will be discussed.

Masood, has represented Pakistan in 15 Test matches with 797 runs under his name at an average of 26.43.

Earlier, on July 7 after returning from World Cup, Sarfaraz had said that he had no plans of stepping down as captain. However, the board will decide if he needs to be removed or not.

The 32-year-old has led Pakistan in 13 Test matches to date, with winning only four and losing eight matches.

Pakistan team is currently ranked seventh in Tests and sixth in ODIs.
