His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed to establish a pedestrian bridge to connect Al Bardi 6 and Al Batha’ areas in Khorfakkan. The objective of this initiative is to facilitate the movement of people.
Additionally, His Highness directed the establishment of a 500-meter-long beach for women in Al Lu’lu’iya area in Khorfakkan.
This was announced by Eng. Yousef Al Othmni, Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), during a phone call with Mohammed Al Raisi on the ‘Direct Line’ programme, broadcast on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA).
He stated that work is underway to construct a pedestrian bridge linking Al Bardi 6 and Al Batha’ areas in Khorfakkan. The bridge will facilitate access to Khorfakkan Hospital and movement of people of the two areas.
Furthermore, he stated that a multitude of improvements have been implemented in the Hayawah area, encompassing the installation of sewage lines, rainwater drainage systems, and asphalt roads. It is anticipated that the contractor will commence operations at the site within approximately a month, he added.
A beach for women
In the same time, Eng. Ali Bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Department of Public Works in Sharjah, said that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah had chosen the location of the 500-metre-long beach in Al Lu’luiya area for its distinguished location that is away from the public road. It will include all necessary facilities and services for women and children, including bathing and exercise areas, a cafeteria, a prayer room, a clinic, umbrellas, and a rest area.
Furthermore, he stated that the Department will promptly initiate the implementation of the aforementioned plans. The typical construction period is between eight months and a year. It is taking into account the provision of entrances and exits to the beach, with the objective of ensuring full privacy for women. Additionally, the Department is considering the provision of parking lots for women’s vehicles in the area, in fulfillment of the directives issued by His Highness.
