President remarks “another beautiful armada” is en route as tensions continue in the Gulf.
WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday that another American naval group is heading toward Iranian waters, while reiterating his hope that Tehran will negotiate a deal with Washington.
“There is another beautiful armada floating beautifully toward Iran right now,” Trump said during a public address. “I hope they make a deal.”
The president’s comments come amid sustained tension between the two nations, though he did not provide specifics on the composition, location, or mission of the reported naval movement. The reference to an “armada” echoes earlier U.S. military deployments to the Persian Gulf region during periods of heightened friction.
The White House and Pentagon have yet to release an official statement confirming the deployment or detailing its purpose. Analysts suggest the announcement could be interpreted as a show of force intended to increase diplomatic pressure on Iran.
The two countries have been at odds over Iran’s nuclear program, regional influence, and U.S. sanctions, with talks stalled since the collapse of the 2015 nuclear agreement.
