ISTANBUL—The lethal bombing in the heart of Istanbul over the weekend injected new tension into Turkey’s relationship with the U.S. after Turkish officials on Monday blamed the attack on a Kurdish militant group that is an American military partner in Syria.
Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said the attack on Sunday, which killed six people and wounded 81 others, was perpetrated by members of the Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, a militant group, who crossed into Turkey from Syria.
