Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered two men to pay Dhs234,000, and fined them Dhs10,000, after they seized this amount by misleading a person into investing his money in a fake project. They two suspects were allegedly convicted in a criminal judgment.
The victim filed a lawsuit, demanding that the suspects pay him Dhs234,000, which they had taken from him, in addition to Dhs40,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages he incurred, as well as the lawsuit fees and expenses. The plaintiff said that the suspects were fined Dhs100,000 each, according to a criminal judgment for the charge of seizing funds by fraud and the ruling was upheld by the Court of Cassation and the Court of Appeal.
The court explained that it was evident from the criminal ruling that the suspects had seized Dhs234,000 from the plaintiff.
Therefore, the court ordered them jointly to pay the plaintiff the amount, and also ordered them to pay Dhs10,000 in compensation for all the material and moral damages he incurred.
