The UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi has successfully completed first half of his six-month space journey and termed his experience incredible.

In a tweet, the Arab world’s first astronaut said he enjoyed every moment of his learning opportunity during the historic space journey.

“It’s been an incredible 3 months on the ISS, full of experiments and experiences – but every moment a learning opportunity,” Al Neyadi tweeted on Friday.

UAE astronaut Sultan Al NeyadiAl Neyadi, 42, has crossed the half way of his mission, which began on March 3 and is scheduled to return to the Earth by the end of August. This is first space mission of Al Neyadi, who is now an experienced astronaut playing a crucial role in helping Nasa maintain the ISS.

Staying fit in space is not easy. As a result, we exercise for two and a half hours every day on machines designed to simulate gravity as on Earth. 🌍

In his first three months of the space mission, Al Neyadi has become the first Arab to perform a spacewalk, carried out crucial science investigations for researchers around the world and conducted several live calls with pupils and space enthusiasts.

On Friday, the UAE astronaut assisted two of his American colleagues Stephen Bowen and Woody Hoburg to install new solar arrays on the exterior of the ISS.

Al Nehyadi had earlier participated to prep the area for the installation on April 28, when he ventured outside the station with Mr Bowen for a seven-hour maintenance assignment.

“I look forward to achieving more goals of the mission in the coming months,” according to Al Neyadi tweet.

A SpaceX Dragon re-supply spacecraft delivered the new solar arrays to the ISS on Tuesday (June 6), as well as other hardware, experiments and food items for the astronauts.

It's been an incredible 3 months on the ISS, full of experiments and experiences – but every moment a learning opportunity. I look forward to achieving more goals of the mission in the coming months. Thank you for your support and excited to continue this journey with you all!🤍 pic.twitter.com/6PmNItAXXw

Al Neyadi is participating in more than 200 experiments during the six-month space mission. Some of his research work so far has involved life sciences, including wearing a bio-monitor vest and headband, to allow scientists on the ground to monitor his cardiovascular system while he works in microgravity.

“Thank you for your support and excited to continue this journey with you all!🤍”, Al Neyadi tweet said.

Al Neyadi will return to Earth in late August and then spend the remaining time completing his scientific investigations and carrying out live calls with space enthusiasts on Earth as part of his outreach efforts.

دعواتكم لنا بالتوفيق 🤍 pic.twitter.com/q6vmK6U8Ys
