BANGKOK: The future of Emirati jiu-jitsu shone brightly as the UAE national under-21 team opened their campaign at the 2025 Jiu-Jitsu World Championships with a spectacular haul of seven medals on Wednesday.
The team’s impressive collection included two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, signaling a powerful start for the UAE delegation at the prestigious tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.
Golden Triumphs and Podium Finishes
The gold medals were secured by Amaar Alhosani in the under-94 kg category and Rashed Alshehhi in the highly competitive 56 kg division. They were joined on the podium by a strong contingent of teammates: Fahad Alhammadi (77 kg), Rashid Alhimany (over-94 kg), and Mohamed Al-Shehhi (56 kg) who each clinched silver medals. Bronze medals were earned by Faisal Alwahedi (69 kg) and Abdulrahman Mohammed (62 kg).
A System Built for Success
Mubarak Al-Menhali, director of the technical department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, attributed the success to the country’s structured development pathway. “Today’s results show how well the system for developing jiu-jitsu in the UAE is working,” he stated, highlighting the collaborative effort involving families, schools, clubs, and the federation’s long-term vision.
Gold medalist Rashed Alshehhi reflected on the deeper value of the victory, saying, “Winning today means more than just getting a medal. It’s a message to all young Emiratis that determination makes the difference.” He credited his start in school programs and unwavering family support for his achievement.
The championship continues with the under-21 women’s division, where more Emirati athletes will look to add to the nation’s growing medal tally.
