Vice President honours winners of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Horseracing Excellence Awards, sponsors of Dubai World Cup
DUBAI (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai attended this evening a ceremony to honour the winners of the 3rd cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Horseracing Excellence Awards as well as members of the awards’ Board of Trustees.
The ceremony was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The event also saw H.H. Sheikh Mohammed honouring the strategic sponsors of the Dubai World Cup 2019.
Patrick Kozgrave was named the Best Jockey; Best Trainer went to Saeed bin Sorour; and Best Horse was awarded to ‘Best Solution’. Best Owner went to Godolphin; while the Lifetime Achievement Award was obtained by Wayne Lukas, an American horse trainer.
Sheikh Mohammed congratulated the winners and called on the horseracing fraternity to continue pursuing excellence and to promote the culture of breeding and riding horses as a noble sport. He also praised the initiatives and generosity of the national institutions and businesses for supporting the Dubai World Cup, which he described as an important national event that enhances UAE‘s global position.
The ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries and senior officials.
The Awards are an extension of Sheikh Mohammed’s long-term vision for racing in Dubai, which began with the establishment of the Dubai World Cup in 1996.
