Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday visited the UAE’s national and cultural landmark, Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi, to commemorate the sacrifices and heroic deeds of the UAE martyrs to defend their homeland.
The Prime Minister was welcomed by H.E. Khalifa Bin Tahnoon, Executive Director, Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office in Crown Prince’s Court. They also went on a tour across Wahat Al Karama, where Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif listened to a detailed explanation by Sheikh Khalifa about the different sections in Wahat Al Karama, which embody the bravery and heroism of UAE heroes, as well as the nation’s noble values.
The Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the solemn guard of honour ceremony also. Afterwards, he laid a wreath at the martyrs’ monument, which comprises 31 panels leaning on one another to symbolise the unity and solidarity between the UAE’s leadership, people and heroic soldiers.
The Prime Minister also toured Wahat Al Karama, where he was briefed about the memorial, which embodies the sacrifices of valiant Emirati soldiers. At the end of the tour, the Prime Minister wrote a note on the memorial’s guest book, expressing his appreciation for the UAE’s brave martyrs.
Wahat Al Karama is a national and cultural landmark in UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, which was established to commemorate heroic actions of martyrs and their sacrifices in defence of the UAE.
The Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, and Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, Ambassador of UAE in Pakistan.
This is the third visit of PM Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to the UAE since assuming office in April 2022.
PM Shehbaz first visited Abu Dhabi for a day-long trip to the UAE in April 2022. His second visit was on his way back from the UK in May 2022 when he touched down in the UAE to offer condolences over the death of its former president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The prime minister’s trip comes after Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir’s visit to the Middle Eastern nation. COAS Asim Munir called on the Emirati president at Qasr Al Shati Palace and reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The UAE is home to around 1.7 million Pakistanis who have been playing a pivotal role in the success story of the UAE, for the last five decades, contributing to the progress, prosperity and economic development of the two brotherly countries.
Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates enjoy close and fraternal ties based on common faith and traditions, shared history and heritage, deep-rooted cultural affinities, geographic proximity and identity of views on several regional and global issues.
