As the countdown on Expo 2020 Dubai has already started last month, the work on mega project’s site is in full swing.
Thousands of workers and machines have been working hard since last one year to build up a state-of-the-art infrastructure for six-month long mega exhibition to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, and the first to be hosted by an Arab nation.
Dubai News TV has learnt that groundbreaking of over a dozen country pavilions has already been done and more countries are expected to start construction of national pavilions at the Expo site very soon.
According to sources, most of the participating countries have completed design and feasibility reports and they will initiate construction process by year-end.
Dubai gearing up for record visitors
Expo 2020 Dubai’s theme is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ is expected to attract 25 million plus visitors during its six-month period from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021.
The people attending will come from all over the world, with 70 per cent expected to be international visitors, the highest proportion in Expo history.
“About 30,000 UAE resident volunteers will be helping look after them,” according to an official.
Expo 2020 Dubai coincides with the UAE’s 50th anniversary in 2021, marking an important milestone for the UAE.
“Expo 2020 Dubai will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we will be opening our doors to the world on 20 October 2020,” the official said.
“We are extending an invitation to people from around the world to join us and experience a World Expo – a global six-month celebration of creativity, innovation, humanity and world cultures,” he said.

Expo’s theme is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’. The reason behind the choice of this theme is “our belief that innovation and progress are the result of people from different fields and backgrounds, who would not normally collaborate, coming together in new and unique ways to share ideas,” the official said.
He said the nations and organisations that will take part in Expo, and the millions who visit, will explore the power of connections across the spheres of Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability – our three subthemes that we see as fundamental in shaping our world.
