RCDP empowers field staff with e-bikes, recognizes their role

In a significant step to empower its frontline staffers, Rural Community Development Programme (RCDP) awarded electric motorbikes to its dedicated field staff during a ceremony held at the organization’s Head Office. The initiative aims to minimise carbon footprint, enhance mobility, reduce travel time, and improve outreach across the province’s underserved communities.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Murtaza, Chief Executive Officer of RCDP, paid rich tribute to the commitment and perseverance of the field teams. “Our field staff are not just employees—they are the face and force of RCDP on the ground. Their tireless efforts in remote and rural communities are the foundation of our success. RCDP stands firmly behind them, and we are proud to call them our greatest asset,” he remarked.
The ceremony was graced by Ms. Kunwal Liaquat, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change, Wildlife & Fisheries, and Environment Protection, who attended as the chief guest. She praised RCDP’s contributions to rural development, financial inclusion, and environmental sustainability, particularly through its adoption of electric mobility.

“Empowering field workers with e-bikes is not only a step toward logistical efficiency but also a bold move toward green transformation. I commend RCDP for aligning development with climate responsibility and for its commitment to transforming lives across Punjab,” said Ms. Liaquat.
The distribution of e-bikes also aligns with the government’s broader climate agenda, reducing the carbon footprint associated with daily commuting in rural areas. By opting for electric vehicles, RCDP is not only improving operational efficiency but also contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
The field staff, many of whom operate in remote and hard-to-reach areas, expressed deep appreciation for the support, noting that the e-bikes would significantly ease their travel burdens, allowing them to expand outreach and increase impact.

With a strong emphasis on financial inclusion, social uplift, and environmental stewardship, RCDP continues to set benchmarks in community development. This latest initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and, above all, the people it serves.
With a network spanning 192 branches and over 2,000 staff members across 28 districts of Punjab, RCDP stands as the province’s largest microfinance institution. The organization has been pivotal in implementing a wide range of pro-poor initiatives, including the Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Programme and the Punjab Government’s Apna Ghar Apni Chhat Scheme, delivering real impact at the grassroots.
