The internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer from Taranto receives recognition for her artistic career and her role as an ambassador of Italian culture on the global stage.
ROME, Italy – In a ceremony held in the prestigious Sala della Regina at Palazzo Montecitorio, Roberta Di Laura, a leading figure on the international dance scene, was awarded the “Donna d’Autore” Award. This recognition adds another significant milestone to the career of the dancer from Taranto, solidifying her status as a premier example of Apulian excellence.
The event, now in its ninth edition and conceived by Anna Silvia Angelini, celebrates female excellence and was included in the official program of the “Rome Art Week.” The award, “Il Cuore” (The Heart Jewel Sculpture), designed by Fina Scigliano, symbolizes strength, resilience, and rebirth, aligning with the award’s message of combating gender violence.
A Global Career Rooted in Taranto
Roberta Di Laura, born in Taranto in 1992, has used her profound artistic talent to honor her hometown, Puglia, and Italy on the world’s most important stages. From Germany and the United Arab Emirates to England, Taiwan, and the United States, her performances have captivated international audiences.

Her exceptional career includes being a member of the International Dance Council of Paris (UNESCO), presenting academic research at World Congresses from Athens to Tokyo, and being recognized by “Stars” Illustrated Magazine in New York as one of the most influential personalities of the year.
“This award is not just a personal honor, but a tribute to the land that raised me,” said Di Laura. “It is a privilege to carry the name of Taranto and Puglia with me everywhere I go, demonstrating the high level of talent and dedication that originates from our region.”
An Ambassador of Art and Culture
The award reaffirms Di Laura’s role as a cultural ambassador. Beyond her performances, she holds a degree from Sapienza University of Rome and has pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford. Her high-level training includes work with institutions like the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and masters from the Paris Opera Ballet and the Bolshoi.
“This recognition for Roberta Di Laura underscores how Apulian excellence can, through commitment and passion, achieve and inspire on a global level,” said a representative from the event’s organization. “She embodies the values of the award: talent, resilience, and a profound connection to her origins.”
The “Donna d’Autore” Award is supported by the European Parliament, the Ministry of Labour, and several municipal and provincial institutions, and was hosted by RAI journalist Vittoriana Abate.
