Jobs provided for 3,000 citizens in Sharjah in 2023: Sultan

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Tuesday unveiled a new, innovative and integrated project to improve the roads in Kalba. He also announced opening of a bachelor’s programme in physical education and sports sciences at the University of Kalba, and the provision of Dhs25,000 as dowry for every citizen in the emirate whose salary is less than this amount, in addition to Dhs25,000 for furniture.
His Highness also pointed out that around 3,000 citizens in Sharjah will be employed during the current year 2023, through replacement or appointment in new projects, in cooperation with various government departments and institutions in the emirate. The Human Resources Department received 2,400 employment requests, as this number has been already employed by last November, followed by 300 who have been also employed by early this week, Sheikh Sultan said, adding that the total number is expected to reach 3,000 by end of this year or early 2024.
His Highness also revealed, via the “Direct Line” programme, that around 5,000 housing requests had been received by the Sharjah Housing Project, which is scheduled to complete within 3 years. And by end of 2023, 3,000 citizens in the emirate will be employed, Sheikh Sultan added, affirming that our society is developed and is rising to a level of progress and advancement. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi pointed out that the new innovative and integrated project that would be carried out in Kalba aims to improve the roads in the city, starting from the clock tower on Al Wehda Road towards the north to opposite the Fort, Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi Street, and its sub-roads and connections with the Ring Road.
His Highness also explained that the new bachelor’s programme in physical education and sports sciences at the University of Kalba is a pioneering project like no other. It is going to be offered in cooperation with Australian universities, Sheikh Sultan said, noting that the last agreement was signed with the Australian side on Monday, to bring an integrated curriculum, which has been already approved by the Ministry of Education in the country. With regard to the housing project, the Ruler of Sharjah revealed that the competent department had received 5,000 requests, which are being examined.
They project will be completed within 3 years, he said, explaining that it can meet maximum 1,500 housing requests per year, including 1,000 in the city of Sharjah alone. He also said that these homes are granted to those whose monthly salary is less than Dhs25,000. Sheikh Sultan also revealed that around 700 applications for housing loans had been received in the emirate this year, calling for the optimal investment of funds of loans and grants when constructing a house, and to stay away from extravagance and waste in marginal matters and issues.
