ABU DHABI — Authorities in Abu Dhabi have confirmed minor damage near the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (Kezad) following the successful interception of a missile by UAE air defence systems. No injuries were reported.
The Ministry of Defence announced in the early hours of Thursday that its forces had responded to missile and drone threats, actively engaging multiple projectiles. While the ministry did not specify the origin of the threats, the development comes amid heightened regional volatility.
Since the escalation of the Middle East conflict in late February, the UAE and other Gulf nations have faced repeated missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran. Tehran has framed these strikes as retaliation for ongoing US-Israeli military operations.
In a related incident on Wednesday, the UAE reported the death of a Bangladeshi worker in Fujairah and the injury of an Indian national near a facility in the Umm Al Thuoob Industrial Area. Both casualties resulted from shrapnel following missile and drone interceptions by Emirati air defence systems.
