Former England captain to advise elite sports programme as Queen Elizabeth’s School launches in Dubai Sports City.
DUBAI – England cricket great Sir Alastair Cook has thrown his support behind the international expansion of Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet, serving as both an Education Ambassador and an advisor for its new branch in Dubai’s Sports City.
The former Test captain, knighted in 2019, attended a launch event on Thursday as part of the school’s initiative to bring its British K-12 curriculum to the UAE. Cook will play a key role in shaping the institution’s elite sports programme, focusing on high-performance pathways and integrating sport within a holistic educational framework.
“To see that legacy now being brought to Dubai is incredibly exciting,” said Cook, referencing the school’s heritage of academic and character excellence. “This school will give young people the opportunity to thrive, not only academically but personally.”
Caroline Pendleton Nash, CEO of Queen Elizabeth’s Global Schools, emphasized Cook’s symbolic fit with the school’s values. “Having Sir Alastair represent us is a tremendous privilege. His career reflects the exacting values that we seek to instil in every Elizabethan,” she stated.
