European Union calls for de-escalation amid concerns over recent developments in Hadramout and Al Mahra, reaffirming support for Yemen’s unity and government.
The European Union issued a formal warning on Wednesday that recent escalations in Yemen’s southern provinces of Hadramout and Al Mahra risk destabilizing the broader Gulf region.
In an official statement, an EU spokesperson called for restraint, saying, “The EU calls for de-escalation and avoiding steps that further threaten the stability of Yemen and the region.” The bloc emphasized its firm commitment to preserving Yemen’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement reiterated the EU’s “strong commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Yemen,” alongside its continued support for the internationally recognized Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. The warning underscores growing international concern that localized conflict could spill over, affecting critical maritime routes and regional security.
