Dubai (October 11, 2022): Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change, toured Gitex where they explored the latest technologies and solutions.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on his visit to the global event on day 2 said: “Gitex has helped place Dubai on the global hi-tech map and put technology at the top of Dubai’s priorities.”
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid visited the pavilions of a number of companies at Gitex Global where he was briefed about the cutting-edge technology solutions and digital products displayed at the event.
At the Microsoft stand, His Highness was introduced to a new product that utilises the company’s advanced metaverse and AI capabilities to create a unique experience of Dubai attractions for tourists. His Highness also visited the Cisco stand where he was briefed on the company’s products and solutions designed to enhance energy efficiency and drive the circular economy.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also visited e&’s stand where he was given a glimpse into the future of mobility as demonstrated by a fully autonomous electric vehicle developed through a collaboration between Cadillac Arabia and e& (formerly known as Etisalat Group).
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid was accompanied by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; and several senior officials of Dubai government entities.
Gitex Global is the world’s largest technology show in Dubai, which reflects the UAE’s emerging role in shaping the world’s future and generating new opportunities for advancing sustainable development globally.

The five-day event runs through to October 14, 2022, featuring a global lineup of companies and startups, showcasing latest developments and innovative solutions across the metaverse, artificial intelligence, Web3.0, cyber security, blockchain, 6G, cloud computing, fintech, big data, data analytics and smart cities.
The record global participation in the 42nd edition of the event reflects Dubai’s profile as a hub for innovation, knowledge sharing, enterprise and networking in the international technology industry, a position it has built through focused investments over the last few decades.
Day 2 Highlights
The governmental representatives and global tech company leaders took over the main stage on the first two days of the event talking about their latest innovations and discussing the future of technology.
UAE’s telecom operator du has partnered with Huawei and SINOTRANS to deliver 5G-driven robot warehouse solutions for the UAE’s logistics industry.
The MoU was signed at the Gitex event, where du is presenting under the theme ‘Powering governments, Shaping The Emirates Reality’ featuring technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality, metaverse, blockchain, NFT and robotics.
The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s (MoHRE) participation at Gitex Global will revolve around showcasing its smart services to serve customers, such as the awareness programme, the new communication channel via WhatsApp, its smart app, smart communication system, the Nafis platform, and the open data system.
A new version of Dubai Police smart application was launched that supports seven languages and provides 70 advanced services using the latest programming languages, algorithms and techniques.

North Star Dubai, one of the region’s largest start-up events, is taking place alongside Gitex. The start-up conference will host the biggest unicorn meetup of the year in Dubai — with 35 unicorns from 15 countries looking to explore new opportunities.
Artificial intelligence summit Ai Everything, Future Blockchain Summit, digital finance summit FinTech Surge and martech event Marketing Mania will also run alongside the Gitex Global.
