Google has announced the opening of its first-ever App Growth Lab for four months in Pakistan. It aims to support high-potential app developers, studios, and companies.
The Google program represents the tech giant’s commitment to helping grow Pakistan’s app industry locally and globally.
Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Regional Director said, App Growth Lab will support up-and-coming local developers to expand their offerings to an international audience.
The project demonstrates Google’s dedication to support the sustainable growth of the developer ecosystem in the country. “We hope to support Pakistani developers in their pursuit of creating great applications for the world”, he added.
Saad Hameed, CEO Game District, said, “We have learnt a lot of information covering all the domains of the mobile gaming industry, from basics to advance. We have optimized our games’ performance by implementing all the intuitive knowledge that we learnt from this program”, he added.
Four pillars of the programme
The program is built around four core pillars: build, develop, launch, and scale. Participants will learn from Google experts in Ads, AdMob, Firebase, gTech, Play, and industry leaders. The initiative follows the launch of the Gaming Growth Lab in Pakistan last year and the company’s commitment to helping grow Pakistan’s app industry.
The ‘build’ component would help participants uncover the global app and gaming opportunity to understand levers for all-around company strategy.
The ‘develop’ component would bring a user-centric mindset to the app and game product development. It will leverage best-in-class technology to set up app for long-term success.
The ‘launch’ component is about strategies to win launch, set up monetization models, and maximize Google’s tools for data for measurable growth.
The ‘scale component’ is about the knowledge of opening app to world by leveraging market and platform diversification strategies.
The program aims to foster a user-centric mindset to product development for leveraging the best technology to ensure long-term success. It will teach launch strategies, set up monetization models, and maximize Google’s data tools to achieve measurable growth.
According to a report by Data Darbar, Pakistan’s app industry witnessed a 35% growth in 2022, with 3.52 billion downloads. With this new initiative, Google aims to support the growth of Pakistan’s app industry, locally and globally.
The program is open to interested organizations, app, and development studios until May 22, 2023. The initiative will begin in June and run for four months. It will allow participants to acquire the necessary knowledge and support to grow their businesses in Pakistan and beyond. Google’s new initiative shows its commitment to supporting the development of emerging economies and fostering innovation worldwide.
