Law office sues company for not paying fees worth Dhs275,150 in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Cases obligated a company to pay Dhs275,150 to a law firm and fined it Dhs5,000, as it tasked the firm to represent it before the courts, and the firm did that in several cases but when it demanded the fees agreed upon according to the agreement concluded between them, the company refrained.
The firm then filed a lawsuit against the company and a number of those in solidarity with it, requesting that they be jointly obligated to pay it an amount of Dhs275,150, including value-added tax, and a legal interest of 5% from the date of the dispute until full payment, besides a compensation of Dhs20,000 and the fees and expenses of the lawsuit and the insurance amount.
The firm explained that the second and third appellees were joint partners in the company and were then jointly obligated to pay the amount owed by the company.
The court explained that the case papers proved that the company’s manager acknowledged that the lawyer’s fees owed to the plaintiff amounted to Dhs275,150 which they agreed to pay them in monthly installments of Dhs34,000, excluding the value added tax.
The court also stated that no one represented the company despite its announcement to present its defence, and then the court obligated it to pay the plaintiff the claimed amount in addition to value added tax at the rate of 5% of the amount.
The court indicated that the company did not pay the fees to the plaintiff, which caused him material damage, and then the court obligated the company to compensate the firm in the amount of Dhs5,000 for all the material damage inflicted on it.
