Al Ain Court of Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Cases ordered a man to pay Dhs50,000 as compensation to another, as he had stolen from the latter’s store after damaging its back door.
The victim filed a lawsuit against the perpetrator, demanding that he pay Dhs50,000 as compensation for the material and moral damages he incurred, along with a legal interest of 9% from the date of the judicial claim until full repayment, and the payment of the lawsuit fees and expenses.
The plaintiff explained that the appellee had been convicted for this incident according to a criminal judgment, and he presented a copy of the criminal judgment and a certificate issued by Al Ain Public Prosecution stating that the appellee had not been appealed.
The plaintiff attended the court and submitted a consultant’s expert report, which confirmed that the store had been robbed to theft and damage, and the value of the losses was estimated at Dhs46,493. The appellee did not attend the court, nor did his representative, despite being legally notified.
The court clarified that the case files proved the appellee’s conviction based on the criminal ruling, and the plaintiff had suffered material and moral harm. Therefore, the court estimated the compensation due to the plaintiff at Dhs50,000.
