Dubai has ranked among the top 5 countries known for having a robust digital government globally, according to the United Nations e-Government Survey 2022.
The report, which assessed digital governments of 193 member states, ranked the emirate in fifth place as one of the world’s best digital governments in the Local Online Service Index (LOSI) 2022.
According to the report, the success behind Dubai’s ranking lies in its Digital Dubai efforts, “to develop strategies governing matters relating to information technology, data, digital transformation and cyber security in coordination with the Smart Dubai Department, the Smart Dubai Government Establishment, the Dubai Data Establishment, the Dubai Electronic Security Centre and the Dubai Statistics Centre.”
Dubai had a score of 0.9186 on the survey’s Local Online Service Index. Berlin ranked number one, followed by Madrid, Tallinn and Copenhagen.
Assessed in 86 performance indicators related to five criteria, the Local Online Service Index was based on institutional framework, content provision, services provision, participation and engagement, and technology.
Dubai ranked number one in institutional framework, content provision and service provision, whereas the emirate ranked number four in the technology index.
