Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF) UAE, a wing of Pakistan Association Dubai, has begun 2023 on a high note as the forum resumed its professional and welfare activities for the benefits of the journalist community.
The new executive body, led by the President Tahir Munir Tahir, took oath in January and decided to hold regular meetings and introduce various measures to establish PJF UAE as a viable and effective forum of the Pakistani journalists in the UAE.
With a consensus of the executive body members, the PJF UAE decided to establish strong relations with the reputable journalist’s organisations and press clubs in the UAE and Pakistan.
The forum also decided to introduce ‘Guest in Town’ programme to invite leading Pakistani personalities for an interaction with the PJF Group members.
In line with the policy decisions taken by the executive body, the PJF UAE signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Press Club Islamabad in Feberuary. The forum’s senior vice-president Ms Sadia Abbasi played an instrumental role to sign this MoU under which PJF UAE members are now eligible to enjoy the status of associate member of National Press Club Islamabad in addition to avail other benefits at the press club.
The forum also hosted Dr Faisal Ikram, President, Pakistan Association Dubai, as a first participant of ‘Guest in Town’ programme in April. Dr Faisal Ikram shared his life experience and progress of Pakistan Association Dubai over a period of time.
The forum has also decided to establish strong relations with the UAE departments and organisations to create awareness among the Pakistani community.
The PJF UAE members continued their professional activities during the Ramadan and represented the forum at important iftar and sahoor parties during the holy month.
The PJF Group members also visited the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) and attended a welcome dinner hosted by Mian Umer Ibrahim, Managing Director of MIH Group.
The executive body also chalked out a comprehensive plan for the welfare of the journalist community during the second half of the year.
The PJF UAE President Tahir Munir Tahir expressed his desire to take all possible measures for the welfare of the Pakistani journalists in the UAE.
“We will establish PJF UAE as a strong platform for the journalists and expand its reach to more departments, organisations and press clubs in the UAE and Pakistan. We are working on some possibilities and will share more good news in second half of 2023,” Tahir said
