At Doha Forum, mediator Qatar emphasizes stability in Gaza requires complete troop pullback as part of internationally backed peace proposal.
DOHA — Qatar’s Prime Minister stated on Saturday that the current pause in fighting in Gaza cannot be considered a complete ceasefire until Israeli forces fully withdraw from the Palestinian territory.
Speaking at the annual Doha Forum conference, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, whose country has played a key mediating role, stressed that stability in Gaza hinges on a total pullout of troops in line with a U.S.- and UN-supported peace plan.
“We are now at a critical moment,” he said. “We cannot yet call this a ceasefire. A ceasefire is not fully achieved unless there is a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces and stability is restored in Gaza.”
The remarks underscore Qatar’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to convert the temporary halt in hostilities into a lasting settlement, reinforcing international calls for a return to pre-conflict conditions in the region.
