Ras Al Khaimah Customs foils two travellers’ bid to smuggle 11kg of narcotics

The Ras Al Khaimah Customs successfully foiled two attempts to smuggle approximately 11 kilograms of narcotics during last week. The contraband substance were discovered hidden in the luggage of two travelers, who arrived in the country through Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.
Ras Al Khaimah Customs stated that in the two incidents, the customs officers identified suspicious luggage and suspected two travellers of carrying contraband items.
The officers relied on their extensive training, sense of security, mental abilities, and attention to detail to identify the narcotic materials, which were found to be hidden professionally upon inspection.
The seized items were handed over to the authorities along with the individuals for further security procedures.
Dr Mohammed Abdullah Al Muharzi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Customs, praised the outstanding efforts of customs personnel, who play a crucial role in protecting the country, its citizens, and residents from destructive scourges by effectively tackling customs violations and smuggling crimes.
The success of the seizure was a direct result of the intensive training courses provided for the customs inspection staff, as emphasized by Al Maharazi.
“These courses equipped them with the necessary capabilities and tools to perform their work to the fullest, and qualify them in the field of inspection,” he added.
