Authorities activate 100% response readiness, mobilising over 340 pieces of equipment to manage expected heavy rainfall and prevent flooding across the emirate.
RAS AL KHAIMAH — Emergency teams are on the ground and response systems are operating at full capacity as Ras Al Khaimah braces for the peak of unstable weather conditions, with forecasts predicting significant heavy rainfall across the emirate.
Officials from the Public Services Department announced on Tuesday that the emirate’s rainwater response systems have reached complete operational readiness. A comprehensive response plan has been activated, involving a strategic deployment of resources and field teams to ensure rapid intervention in the event of weather-related incidents.
The heightened alert comes as a low-pressure system is expected to bring rainfall accumulations of 50 to 80 millimetres, raising concerns about water accumulation in various areas.
In a massive logistical operation, authorities have mobilised 340 pieces of equipment, including 157 water tankers, 91 mobile and fixed pumps, and 92 additional machinery units. These assets have been strategically positioned across the emirate to bolster drainage operations.
To maximise operational efficiency, 32 specialised field teams comprising 548 personnel—including engineers, technical specialists, supervisors, and drivers—are working around the clock to monitor conditions and respond to incidents. Their efforts are supported by 12 strategic deployment sites established to ensure rapid access to affected locations.
Authorities have reported that 311 weather-related reports have been received to date, with a 98% completion rate in handling these cases. Response teams have so far covered 80% of affected areas, while recovery operations are 45% complete.
The manpower actively engaged includes 24 engineers and field leaders, alongside 201 supervisors and workers. The equipment fleet in operation consists of 119 water tankers, 274 machinery units, and 39 pumps, all working continuously to mitigate the impact of the rainfall.
Officials noted that approximately 240 areas in Ras Al Khaimah have been affected by the inclement weather. Teams are working diligently to restore normal conditions as swiftly as possible.
Residents are urged to exercise caution, avoid areas of water accumulation, and follow official guidance from authorities as the weather system continues to develop.
