Sharjah arrests gang who impersonated police officers and stole laptops worth Dhs1.7 million

The security teams at the Criminal Investigations Department of Sharjah Police apprehended a group of four Arab nationals who had impersonated police officers with the intention of stealing laptops valued at Dhs1.7 million. They have been referred to the judiciary for further proceedings.
This was after a report that had been received by the Central Operations Room from an Asian man employed by a company operating in the transportation and delivery of goods. The report detailed an incident of theft and fraud perpetrated against the Asian man by unknown assailants. The incident occurred in an industrial area, where he was stopped by the assailants, who presented themselves as cops.
He subsequently discovered that he had been defrauded and that the goods contained in the vehicle for delivery had been stolen. The stolen goods included a total of 1,840 laptops.
Colonel Abdulrahman Nasser Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigations Department at Sharjah Police, stated that following receipt of the report, a competent team initiated investigation into the incident.
Based on the data obtained, the perpetrators and the location of the stolen goods were identified through a process of research, investigation and careful monitoring. They were able to identify and arrest perpetrators in 48 hours, Colonel Al Shamsi added.
The Sharjah Police urge members of the community to collaborate with the security authorities through reporting any violations, behaviour, or anything that raises suspicion and attention via 999 for emergency, 901 for non-emergency cases. The police have also stressed that members of the community are partners in maintaining the security and safety of citizens and residents in the emirate.
