The enactment of Law No. 3 of 2024, overseen by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, focuses on the reorganisation of the Police Science Academy in the emirate of Sharjah.
As per the law, the content of Article 7 from Law No. 5 of 2014, which pertains to the restructuring of the Police Science Academy in Sharjah, is replaced with the following provisions:
The Police Science Academy Council is tasked with the following responsibilities:
1. Formulating the academy’s general policies and approving strategic plans to ensure its development aligns with its designated duties.
2. Appointing, promoting, and terminating the services of faculty and training staff, adhering to the conditions and procedures outlined in the academy’s regulations.
3. Approving regulations for engaging lecturers from recognised universities and colleges outside the faculty members to teach specific accredited subjects.
4. Sanctioning the appointment and termination of services for those holding leadership and pivotal positions within the academy.
5. Approving the admission process for new students and establishing a disciplinary system, including dismissal procedures.
6. Validating the certificates and academic degrees granted by the academy.
7. Approving the training plan for new recruits referred to the academy from police departments within the emirate or other emirates.
8. Sanctioning the annual training plan to enhance the competency of police personnel across various ranks and specialties, both academically and practically.
9. Approving the formation of committees for discussion, judgment, and the creation of individual or collective reports on scientific theses.
10. Authorising the admission of students dispatched from within or outside the country.
11. Approving financial, organisational, and internal regulations, along with all relevant laws and systems governing the academy.
12. Approving agreements, partnerships, and contracts entered into between the academy and other entities.
13. Establishing permanent or temporary committees to carry out assigned tasks and responsibilities.
14. Establishing a committee to select officer students from applicants aspiring to join the academy.
15. Ratifying the annual budget and the final account of the academy.
16. Taking suitable measures concerning proposals and recommendations submitted to it by the scientific council.
17. Undertaking any other responsibilities delegated by the Ruler or the Executive Council of the Emirate.
The law also specifies that the content of Article 10 in Law No. 5 of 2014 is to be replaced with the following:
