Guess what? Dubai is totally killing it as one of the least traffic-jammed cities across the globe! The Emirate outperformed major global cities, showcasing its ability to prevent traffic.

According to a report released by TomTom, a satnav company, Dubai stands out among the least congested cities globally.

The 2022 traffic index report from this multinational corporation, which specialises in monitoring global traffic and congestion, showcased Dubai’s remarkable performance in the traffic flow index.

The report extensively examined 390 cities spanning six continents and 56 countries, encompassing over 543 billion kilometers of road networks.

According to the report, Dubai outperformed major global cities including Los Angeles, Montreal, Sydney, Berlin, Rome, and Milan in terms of the average time needed to travel a distance of 10 km in the Central Business District (CBD). pic.twitter.com/QWF7HPcWAU

The study revealed that Dubai outperformed significant global cities

This included Los Angeles, Montreal, Sydney, Berlin, Rome, London and Milan regarding the average time needed to travel a distance of 10 kilometres in the Central Business District.

However, Almere in the Netherlands was ranked first, with 8 minutes per 10 kilometres.

So there you have it! Dubai is showing us all how it’s done by snagging a prime spot as one of the chillest cities when it comes to traffic.

In Dubai, the journey time was recorded at 12 minutes per 10 km, compared to the average of 21 minutes per 10 km in the referenced cities.

In contrast, the best-performing city on this index was Almere in the Netherlands, with 8 minutes per 10 km, while the lowest-performing city was London, with 36 minutes per 10 km.

Dubai ranked supremely among cities, recording a time of 9 minutes per 10 km in the urban area, with an average speed of 59 kmp/h. This compares to the top-performing city, Greensboro in the US, with 7 minutes and 40 seconds per 10 km and an average speed of 74 km/h.

Meanwhile, the lowest-performing city was Bogota in Colombia, with 24 minutes per 10 km and an average speed of 19 km/h.

Mattar Al Tayer, RTA’s Director-General and Chairman, highlighted the expansion of Dubai’s comprehensive public transport system (via Arabian Business). Passenger ridership has soared from 163 million in 2006 to 621.4 million in 2022, contributing to a reduction in traffic congestion and private vehicle dependence. The RTA’s comprehensive approach to infrastructure development and transportation policies has positioned Dubai as a leading global city in terms of traffic management and congestion alleviation.
