Fursan Al Emarat has garnered significant attention at the 16th edition of Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA’23), which is set to conclude on high note on January 27, 2023.
Fursan Al Emarat, which translates into English as ‘The Knights’, put on truly exhilarating displays during the five-day exhibition and entertained the visitors with their remarkable performance.
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Malaysia’s King Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah enjoyed a dazzling display by the Fursan Al Emarat aerobatics team on Wednesday, Abu Dhabi Media Office reported.
Sheikh Khaled, who arrived in Malaysia on Sunday for his first overseas visit since taking on the role in March, is heading the high-level UAE delegation that included Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Mohammed Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport; Ahmed Jasem Al Zaabi, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development; and Khalid Alghaith, the UAE’s Ambassador to Malaysia.

Sheikh Khaled visited the stands of several marine and aerospace technology companies taking part in the exhibition, including UAE defence conglomerate Edge.
Caracal signed an agreement with Ketech Asia at the event to enhance mutual co-operation and develop partnerships.

LIMA’23 a great success
Over 100 assets from the aerospace and maritime industries are being featured at the event, which was inaugurated on January 23 in the presence of Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
The event started preceded by an air show on the tarmac in front of the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre as 36 aircraft belonging to the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) roared in the sky to symbolise the opening of the exhibition.
Alpine Integrated Solution Sdn Bhd (Alpine) executive director Muhammad Aqlan Pacleb said some 35 to 40 maritime assets are being featured for visitors to feast their eyes on.

“There will also be four to five air shows involving the Russian Sukhoi, August 1st (China), Black Eagles (Korea) and The Jupiter Aerobatic (Indonesia). It is set to be the biggest aerobatic performance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Alpine managing director Anita Jacobson said LIMA’23 is expected to receive around 45,000 trade visitors and 250,000 public visitors during the five-day of the exhibition.
“For the first three days, from May 23 to 25, the exhibition was only open to trade visitors. We provide opportunities for those who travel from abroad or within the country to meet industry players to discuss matters related to their businesses,” said Anita Jacobson.
Themed The Nexus of Asia’s Maritime and Aerospace Trade, LIMA’23 returned with bigger shows after four-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event involves two main ministries; the Defence Ministry for the Maritime and Aerospace Defence Industry, and the Transport Ministry for the Maritime and Aerospace Commercial Industry.

The 20,000sqm MIEC space venue will be utilised indoor and outdoor with 110 of aircraft and 110 of ships/vessels, expecting 45,000 trade visitors, more than 250,000 public visitors and more than 400 VVIPs comprising Ministers of Defence and Ministers of Transport, Senior Officer and Service Chiefs from 59 countries.
Apart from exhibitions, forums and conferences, LIMA 2023 has also organised various activities such as drone races, flight simulators, technology talks and career fairs for visitors and enthusiasts of the maritime industry and aerospace technology.
