Heavy rain hits several areas of the UAE, authorities advise caution

Heavy rains with lightning and thunder fell on most areas across the UAE on Sunday as a result of the unstable weather conditions that would continue till Tuesday.
The heavy rains with lightning and thunder fell on Al Jazeera Border Guard, Bida Al Mutawa and Sabkhat Matti in Al Dhafra Region, while heavy rains fell on Al Ain City and Abu Dhabi and rains of varying intensity fell on Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
The lowest temperature of 6.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 07:15am while the second lowest temperature of eight degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Mebrah at 05:45am UAE local time.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on motorists to take caution while driving under rain and to stay away from large puddles and flooded valleys.
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to be cautious and abide by safe driving rules during rains and unstable weather conditions over the coming days. They also urged them to abide by the varying speed limit, avoid tailgating and pressing the brakes abruptly, slow down when turning and stop by the side of the road in case of low horizontal visibility.
The unstable weather conditions would continue on Monday with cumulus clouds forming, accompanied by heavy rains on separate areas across the UAE and winds at 70 km/h. The cumulus clouds will decrease gradually in the afternoon and less rains are likely to fall at night.
Unstable and partly cloudy to cloudy weather is expected to continue on Monday, while some cumulus clouds will form and heavy rains accompanied by lightning and thunder will fall on separate areas across the UAE with a noticeable drop in temperature.
Moderate northeasterly to southeasterly winds will blow, turning to active, strong and sand-stirring at times at 20 to 35 and up to 70 km/h, causing the horizontal visibility to be lower. The sea will be rough to very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Tuesday’s weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times with a chance of rains on the northern and eastern areas during the day. The weather, however, will be humid at night and on Wednesday morning with a chance of fog or light fog over some inland and coastal areas, especially in the west.
Light to moderate northeasterly to southeasterly winds will blow, turning to active and sand-stirring at times at 15 to 25 and up to 40 km/h, while the sea will be rough in the morning but will have moderate to regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Wednesday’s weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy at times and temperature is likely to rise. The weather, however, will be humid at light and on Thursday morning with a chance of light fog on some inland areas.
Light to moderate northeasterly to southeasterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 15 to 25 and up to 35 km/h, while the sea will have moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf and regular waves in the Sea of Oman.
