Sheikh Sultan witnesses harvest of second season of Mleiha wheat farm

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Monday witnessed the harvest of the second season at the Mleiha wheat farm. Sheikh Sultan also inaugurated the farm’s administrative premises during the visit.
The Sharjah Ruler toured the area, seeing models of Sharjah soil, the grains that were used, the method of grinding the crop using “mills” and modern equipment, in addition to methods of preparing various types of dough and preparing baked goods. Food products prepared from the “Farm Farm” were also displayed.
The Sharjah Ruler learned about the traditional and modern equipment and mechanisms used in the process of planting and harvesting the crop, which comes within the initiative to support productive farms, which aims to provide safe and sustainable solutions that support farm owners to contribute to enhancing food security.
Sheikh Sultan then rang the bell, marking the start of the harvesting process on the wheat farm.
He followed the wheat harvesting process, which was conducted using the latest modern mechanisms and equipment that carry out the harvesting process through three mechanisms.
The first separates the grain from the straw, the second collects the straw, and the last compresses the wheat straw and turns it to bales.
He received a sample of the first wheat grains that were harvested in the second season.
The Sharjah Ruler had earlier explained that food security projects include supporting the agricultural, livestock, and fisheries sectors, developing farms and supporting farmers and fishermen, and setting regulations and controls that limit misuse in food production.
He called on farmers to cooperate with the Sharjah government in developing and maintaining their farms and establishing specialised farms, stressing that he will provide the necessary support for electricity and water services at reduced prices, in addition to providing technical and agricultural consultations to ensure the production of crops that are compatible with health standards and are free of harmful chemicals.
